The Foundation annually awards several scholarships for young mathematicians (Master and PhD students, young professionals) living in Kharkiv.
The Akhiezer Foundation competition includes:
- Applications submission till January 20.
- Admission to the competition.
- Reports of the contest participants.
- Announcing and awarding winners.
The call for applications is open to young mathematicians, PhD students and university students aged to 35. Applications should be submitted to
shepelsky@yahoo.com and contain:
- Curriculum Vitae including telephone number, e-mail address, list of publications (published in journals, just prepared for publishing and preprints), list of scientific grants and stipends (if there were any);
- Abstracts of papers (reports): 1 page (doc. or tex.) highlighting the main results obtained;
- Electronic copies of scientific papers sent in pdf.;
- Students and PhD students should add recommendation letters from professors.
Coordination Council members consider applications for funding from the Foundation, inform about admission to the competition and set the date of the participants' reports (usually at the end of February), which takes place in the framework of a special meeting of the Kharkiv Mathematical Society.
The participants should make their reports in the form of presentations (15 minutes) of the main scientific results obtained (electronic presentation with using a video projector (beamer) is highly recommended; presentations of the contest winners will be posted on the Foundation's website).
The Coordinating Board members consider the reports and decide on the winners. At a meeting of the Kharkiv Mathematical Society dedicated to the birth of N.I. Akhiezer (usually in early March), the winners are awarded with the Foundation diplomas and a one-year scholarship.
Any scientific work prepared by the fellow during the period of receiving the scholarship must contain the reference that it was partially supported by the Akhiezer Foundation.
