Sviatoslav S. Sokolov – Head of Department, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor
Born on August 31, 1953 in Odessa in the family of a military man. In 1963, the family moved to Kharkiv, where in 1970 he graduated from Secondary School No. 10 and entered the Physics Department of Kharkiv State University, which he graduated in 1975.
Since 1975, he has been working at the Institute for Low Temperature Physics and Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, where he defended his candidate (1984) and doctoral (2005) dissertations, and holds the academic title of professor (2019).
Laureate of the B. I. Verkin Prize of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (2010).
His scientific interests lie in the field of physics of low-dimensional charged systems, hydrodynamics of stratified solutions of helium isotopes. He is the author and co-author of more than 150 scientific papers and inventions. Under his supervision, 2 candidate and one PhD dissertations were defended.
